With the launch of our first women's tee, I (Laura) wanted to find a great Global Good partner to complement our new spring range. I'd recently been hearing stories about girls in developing nations who were unable to get an education, and the ramifications this had on their life and future. It seemed only fitting that we would release our first women's tee with a Global Good Partnership that would help girls in developing nations get to school and have a life-changing impact on their future.
We believe that both boys and girls have a right to an education. However, girls face some unique circumstances that make getting an education particularly life changing. Here are some reasons why educating girls is an awesome thing:
- In many cultures, girls are married off young. In Uganda, 40% of girls are married before they turn 18. Statistics show that if girls get 12 years of schooling, child marriage would drop by 64%.
- Women have a significant impact over child health and wellbeing. According to World Vision, a child born to a mother who can read is 50% more likely to survive past the age of 5.
- Girls who stay in school for as little as a single year of primary school can increase their income later in life by 20-25%.
- Educated women contribute to the health of the nation's economy. Educated women can and do play a role in increasing their country's GDP and helping their community to thrive.
For these reasons, we have chosen to partner with World Vision, who are helping girls attend and finish school. $1 from every product sold during the Spring-Summer 25/26 season will go towards the phenomenal work they are doing in this area.
Thanks so much for supporting this cause through your purchase. It's an honour to partner with you to do the world some good 😊
Blessings,
Laura & Alex
